The latest Alienware series is a nice setup, with response and gaming kept in mind from full system customization to personalization of color options to programming one-touch buttons. Out of the box, this looks great and boots quickly. The keyboard is easy to type with while having an old school mechanical feel to it. There is a noticeable difference when putting the Intel Ultra 9 series to the challenge from basic usage (everyday) to the full power with highly intensive processor, memory taxing, and GPU pushing games. The machine overall does heat-up but keeps up with the cooling through a nicely breathable chassis design. Sadly, with all of the changes in technology, there is still quite a bit of weight to the machine, as well as added additional weight from the power supply itself. This was a change expected to see in this day and age while other portables have found ways to go with a more travel friendly power supply and adapter setup…Alienware has yet to make a change. It does have the latest generation of Wi-Fi to offer and meets backwards to current compatibility testing using the latest generation of Wi-Fi available. Overall charge does last quite a while, but when gaming it should be accompanied by the charger to ensure you do not run out of battery while doing heavy and taxing gaming. For this, I do not foresee this machine being a daily traveler, but instead more friendly when tied to a desktop or temporarily going places to “network”. These machines as a standard would ship with WinOS Pro; instead we see WinOS Home out of the box tied to these machines with the option to pay-to-play (upgrade) should you need it. As a part of the customization there are gaming profiles that can be built as presets to the games you play. It is very responsive and can be utilized for programming, design, photography outside of the gaming only realm.

I haven't done a lot of PC gaming over the past few years, but with this Alienware 16X I will be doing it much more frequently now. The specs are not top of the line, but will make most gamers happy with the performance it provides. As with most laptops when you first take it out of the box, there are updates that needed to be downloaded and installed prior to use. It took me about an hour to get everything ready to go after opening the box. The setup process was very straight-forward and walked you through each step so even the most non-technical gamers can get through this without issues. OK, on to the gaming review. The 16X comes with a 3 month Microsoft PC Game Pass included. I took advantage of that and downloaded a few games (Forza Horizon and Halo Infinite) to test out the laptop. I started with a high frame rate of 240fps and turned on the DLSS for both games. The high frame rate worked for about 5 minutes before throwing a message that the Nvdia RTX5060 couldn't keep up with that frame rate, so I had to turn it down to 100fps. I didn't have any more issues once I did that. Ideally, for high level gaming in 4K, having the higher frame rate would have made the image smoother. I wasn't playing in 4K so this was fine. There were a few cons with this laptop. First, the above example showed that you aren't going to get top of the line performance with this graphics card since it only has 8GBs of VRAM. As a result, you get good performance instead of great. The second issue is the laptop is noisy when you are playing games. Ideally, you would be casting to a different screen so you don't have to be sitting next to the laptop. Lastly, I don't recommend playing with this on your lap. It gets hot! I ended up putting it on the laptop box so it didn't burn my legs. Overall, this is a good, but not great gaming laptop. Get one with the RTX5060Ti if you want the full 4K experience. I plan to use this to run a golf simulator setup and expect that this will be more than sufficient for displaying 4K video onto the screen; however, I will definitely keep this laptop in a different room so the noise doesn't overpower the experience.

Right out of the box, the new Alienware Aurora 16X instantly caught my attention. With its deep indigo-blue finish and sculpted design, it's easily the most striking laptop that's ever graced my desktop. Features that resonated upon opening were the keyboard, an excellent layout, exacting feel and feedback. Features include Num Keys, perfect backlighting (easily programable), CoPilot+ key, and my favorite, the Stealth key. Two other standout upgrades include relocating the volume controls to the right of the function keys and integrating three dedicated macro keys. The Stealth Key is a genuine game changer. Whether you’re deep in battle or immersed in creative work - and your phone suddenly rings amid swirling fans, one tap shifts everything into Stealth Mode. Fans drop to a whisper, the keyboard glows white, and performance dials back to quiet efficiency. It’s an instant, one-touch override for complete calm. Alienware Command Center, your tool for optimizing and customizing gaming experience. Its intuitive, engaging interface lets you tweak lighting effects, create and switch between game profiles, and fine tune system performance, easily the best ‘alien’ dashboard I’ve encountered. Gaming load times are desktop quick, with an Intel Core Ultra 9 Series 2 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 “NVIDIA Blackwell and AI powered GPU” the Aurora 16X effortlessly sustains ‘60–80 FPS’ on Ultra settings. No matter what I threw at it, the system never skipped a beat. Its brutal performance, crisp QHD+ resolution, and silky-smooth 240 Hz panel make it a winner across the board. Notes: - Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor with an integrated NPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 - Memory Hynix 5600Mhz DDR5 32GB HMCG78AGBSA095N - upgradable to 64GB - SSD: Micron 2650 1024GB - 9th-generation NAND PCIe Gen4 x4 - Excellent SSD - Screen: 16″ WQXGA (2560×1600) display with 240 Hz refresh rate and 500 nits - HDMI 2.1 port supports up to 4K - Thunderbolt 4.0 (40 Gbps) Display Port/power delivery - USB 3.2 Gen2 (10 Gbps) Display Port - Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) - RJ-45 (1 Gbps) - “Alienware Cryo-tech” cooling system - A Favorite is their Full-on User Manual that covers the Aurora from a-z. Thanks I’ve never seen battery life like this on a gaming laptop, my previous rigs drained in no time, but the Aurora 16X easily runs for hours on a single charge, even in balanced performance mode. Its charging brick is incredibly compact, about half the size and weight of the adapter from my last gaming 16″ Core i7 laptop. Thanks to its flexible performance modes and outstanding battery longevity, the Alienware Aurora 16X is the only high-end gaming machine I've ever genuinely enjoyed using as both a daily driver and a gaming platform. Dell's brilliant engineering truly shines in its power management technology. The Aurora 16X ditches the bulky rear “thermal shelf,” relocating its cooler to the underside, shaving an inch from front to back and a quarter inch from side. Significantly reducing the total footprint. This setup channels fresh air in from beneath the chassis and expels heat through vents at the back and sides. Providing remarkable cooling efficiency and tilting the laptop to a perfect angle. Kudos. Alienware always impresses with its meticulous attention to detail and industry leading technologies. I especially appreciate the precision of its engineering design, which makes upgrading memory and storage ‘truly effortless’. Beyond the ease of upgrading your computer memory modules or SDDs, ‘Service Mode’ lets you cut power without disconnecting the battery cable from the system board before upgrades. A clever feature that isolates power safely from components with a simple key command, no need to unplug or reattach the motherboard battery. Results of Bench Marking the Aurora 16X can be found in my attached pictures. 3Dmark Bench Marking: - “Speed Way Ray tracing benchmark for high-end gaming PCs” - “Storage Benchmark SSD performance test for gamers” Conclusion: Having owned and worked with countless laptops throughout my career as a Director of IT, the Alienware Aurora 16X stands above the rest as my Top Pick. With its effortless style, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional design, both inside and out the Aurora 16X doesn’t just meet expectations, it redefines them.

It is good but i didn't like the charger is a huge and the laptop’s charging port is located in an impractical position at the back of the device under the screen, which makes using it while charging inconvenient. In addition, the laptop is very heavy.

The best birthday gift for my son and the best purchase in years. Its excellent Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, 32GB of RAM, and RTX 5060 deliver brutal performance for gaming and demanding tasks. The 240Hz display is super smooth, and the blue design gives it a unique touch. Everything loads super fast thanks to the 1TB SSD. 100% recommended! Thanks to Best Buy for always having the best technology available and making this premium experience possible.
